The Hiroshima Carp clinched the Central League title

The Hiroshima Carp clinched the Central League title after beating the Yomiuri Giants 6-4 on Saturday at Tokyo Dome to end a long title drought.

The Carp entered the game with a magic number of one, and clinched the title with 12 games remaining. Hiroshima last won the CL pennant in 1991, making it the team with the longest gap between titles.

The Carp secured the top seed in the CL Climax Series in October, and will face the winner of the series between second-placed and third-placed teams for a spot in the Japan Series.
